Our Impact

We’re committed to reducing our environmental footprint, enhancing the quality of life in communities where we live and work, and helping people live more sustainably.

Kohler Co. 2023 Impact Report

Our report is an important step in the progress we’re making in our journey to better.

We believe in leaving the world a better place than we found it and investing in innovation and programs to deliver on that promise.

Celebrating 150 Years of Kohler

Kohler’s 150th anniversary celebrated our bold journey to this point, recognizing our 30,000 global associates that made this milestone possible.

Leading Impact Globally

From conserving water and reducing emissions and waste to supporting local organizations, our associates innovate and lead projects to make a positive impact on our planet and communities.

From providing health and well-being programs to fostering an engaging workplace, we’re investing in our people and creating a place where every associate can become more at Kohler. Each Kohler associate is encouraged and empowered to volunteer, activate, and innovate for causes that matter to them as we work together to solve the world’s most pressing social and environmental challenges. Together, we strive to create experiences that leave our associates and communities with a sense of value, purpose, and belonging every day.

We believe in a safe, welcoming, and human-centered workplace where hate and discrimination have no home—ever. We cultivate an environment where our associates can thrive, grow, and be their best selves. When we engage a wide spectrum of people reflecting all the dimensions of diversity, we tap into our brightest ideas and boldest thinking.

Kohler is committed to having a positive impact on the growth and economic development of the communities where our associates live and work. Since 1990, 18.1 million lives have been impacted globally through product donations, increased access to clean water and sanitation, health and well-being services, environmental conservation, education, and support of the arts.

Community impact programming is based on five areas of programming: access to clean water and sanitation, health and well-being services, environmental conservation, education, and support for the arts.

Innovation for Good (IfG), Kohler’s in-house incubator, enables associates to explore opportunities to develop new products and services that address pressing global, environmental, and social challenges. Launched by the IfG incubator in 2018, associates from across Kohler participate in the annual IfG I-Prize Competition to demonstrate their passion and commitment to solving social and environmental challenges.

KOHLER® Cleanse

Globally, 2.3 million people live without the means to safely wash their hands at home and 670 million people have no access to handwashing at all. In support of our commitment to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, and tapping into our innovation and expertise, Kohler developed KOHLER Cleanse, a hands-free handwashing faucet that requires no plumbing, no electricity, and no hands—the faucet provides water with just a simple lift of the wrist. Read more about KOHLER Cleanse and its impact here.

KOHLER Rinse

The KOHLER Rinse pour-flush toilet provides individuals with the comfort and dignity of a seated sanitation solution that does not require electricity or piped water, using a pour-flush activation system. Ideal for communities without a waste management infrastructure, KOHLER Rinse is adaptable to various sewer systems. Read more about KOHLER Rinse and its impact here.

KOHLER Loope

KOHLER Loope is a waterless toilet designed to bring safe sanitation to dense urban environments where the only toilet option is often away from homes, requires payment, and is locked at night. KOHLER Loope is a container-based sanitation (CBS) solution, a form of off-grid waste management where solid waste and urine are collected and disposed of or converted into a new product. Advocacy

At Kohler, we are helping to raise awareness of the intersection of climate change and the global water crisis through advocacy and key partnerships.

KOHLER WasteLAB, established in 2014 within Kohler’s Innovation for Good® incubator, continues to scale up operations to repurpose Kohler manufacturing waste streams into beautiful products to advance circularity at Kohler.

KOHLER WasteLAB operations are currently concentrated in Kohler, Wisconsin, and any repurposed waste streams are sourced from our Wisconsin campus operations. We continue to invest in research and innovation to expand the scope of how we recycle and reuse waste material, including waste materials from operations outside of Kohler, Wisconsin.
